Drowning in the Inbox

Another day, another tidal wave of emails.

In this comic’s oceanic office, the Monday morning inbox isn’t just full – it’s a flood of digital messages cresting over the cubicle walls.

Our hapless office worker is cast as a shipwrecked sailor in business casual, clinging to a raft made of a giant envelope. Every time they flag one message, three more tsunami in with subject lines shouting “URGENT.”

A co-worker’s all-team “Reply-All” is the equivalent of a rogue wave, knocking the poor soul back under a sea of bolded unread notifications. With water cooler in hand (as a makeshift flotation device), they dog-paddle towards the ever-retreating island of Inbox Zero on the horizon.

Hustle culture might preach constant connectivity, but here it looks a lot like constant drowning. In the endless inbox ocean, you don’t swim to reach the end – you just tread water and pray for calmer seas.
