The Time Bank

Welcome to the Time Bank! Here the currency isn’t cold hard cash but the warm hours of your life.

Suited professionals queue up not with paychecks, but with hourglasses tucked under their arms. At the teller window, a weary worker pushes forward a jar labeled “Unused Vacation Hours” and asks to convert it into a project deadline extension.

The teller, wearing a banker’s visor and a clock brooch, dutifully weighs the hours on a scale against a stack of bills. Nearby, an entrepreneur swipes his Time Bank card at an ATM that reads “Insert 2 hours to withdraw $20.”

As minutes trickle down on the screen, a few dollars spit out with a receipt showing a balance of life remaining. The whole operation runs on the ultimate exchange rate: time for money, money for time.
